Altosid® IGR Feed-Thru from Central Life Sciences, offers producers an economical, flexible and convenient way to control horn flies. The active ingredient in Altosid IGR is (S)-Methoprene, an insect growth regulator (IGR) that interrupts the horn fly life cycle. Altosid IGR is consumed by cattle and then passed with the manure, where horn flies lay their eggs. The product disrupts the natural growth pattern of the pupae so they never develop into breeding, biting adults. As a result, stress on cattle is reduced and the weight loss associated with horn flies is avoided. Altosid IGR can be mixed into complete feed, concentrates, hand feeds, mineral supplements or liquid feed for specific needs.
